Computer Now and Back Then

With computers now we can do many things with it. For example looking up dictionary, help with homework and connect with people. Computer has improved a lot in the past few years now the computer can do even more then it use to. When I asked my parents/guardians they told me that use to without computer life was all about working and helping out the house. There was no time to play or anything like now if you wanted to know about stuff you had to go to the library and such.

System Clock

System Clock- system time is measure by system clock, which implies computer system notion of passing the time.

Scanner

Scanner- it is a device that captures pictures from posters, magazine etc... so that you can edit the display of the picture/image.

Read-Only Memory (ROM)

Read-Only Memory (ROM)- it is an hardware that allows fast access to permanently store data into the computer but then prevents addition or modification to the data.

Random Access Memory (RAM)

Random Access Memory (RAM)- it is an memory device where you can access information and data from anywhere order.

Pointer

Pointer- it is a symbol that appears on the display screen to let the user know where he/she is selecting you command it by clicking with the pointing device such as a mouse.

Plotter

Plotter- its an output device that helps draw graph, images/pictures, by moving a pen usually.

Output Device

Output Device- it is device that help produces data from inside the computer to the outside such as an speaker, printer and a video display.

Optical Storage Devices

Optical Storage Devices- It stores data in a permanent form on the photographic film, for nondestructive readout by the meaning of a light source and photo detector.

Nonimpact Printers:

Nonimpact Printers- it is a device that helps produces image without mechanically striking the page where the image is being printed on. Examples (Ink-Jet, and Bubble-Jet Printers).

Mouse:Network Drive:

Mouse:Network Drive- it is a small box device that help generates signals to the control position or a cursor or pointer on a computer display screen. It got the name mouse from the little animal mouse because of the tail and the wire looking alike connect with a small device.

Motherboard

Motherboard- also called the system board. It is the main board of the computer that contains circuitry for the CPU, keyboard, and monitors also usually accepts additional circuitry.

Main Memory: Memory:

Main Memory: Memory- It is the same as memory, when in digital computer where you store data and information on a temporary or permanent basis. Most cases main memory has a high speed RAM.

Instruction Cycle (I-Cycle): Keyboard:

Instruction Cycle (I-Cycle): Keyboard: It is the steps involved in carrying out the instructions. It is the steps of sequences that a CPU performs this cycle is also known as fetch-execute cycle.

Input Devices

Input Devices- It is a device used to import information into the computer such as a mouse, keyboard.

Input Devices

Impact Printers

Impact Printer- it is an line printer that has more then one font, a ribbon or other inking type of device. It impacts characters you want or a character element onto the paper.

Executive Cycle (E-Cycle): Hard disk drive

Executive Cycle (E-Cycle): Hard disk drive- when a computer obeys instructions in the computer program it would then tell you whether it is running or executing the program. Before the computer can run the program the program must have resident in the memory also must be written in the internal machine language in order for the program to run.

Digital Video Disk and Digital Versatile Disk (DVD)

Digital Video Disk and Digital Versatile Disk (DVD) - it is a high quality optical disk that is used for storing large amount of data especially for high resolution audio visual material.

Controller

Controller- it is an electronic circuit board. Controllers contain the circuitry to run a peripheral device they are either contained on a plug in expansion board of the motherboard. The helps to keep things in order in the accounting department in order to interpret and utilize managerial accounting information.

Central Processing Unit (CPU)

Central Processing Unit (CPU)- It is an digital computer that has a control unit with instructing-decoding unit and arithmetic-logic unit. The CPU is linked to main memory which includes input, output, and storage units. It chooses instruction in order and sends it to the instructing-decoding unit.

CD-ROM

CD-ROM- it is a type of computer storage medium that uses lasers to read binary. It is also a compact disk that read only memories.

CD-ROM

Bit

Bit- it is used as a measurement for network transmission. It is also the smallest element of a computer storage.

American Standard Code for Information Interchange (ASCII)

ASCII- It is the most common format for text files on the computer it is also used for assigning numerical values using roman alphabets and typographic characters.

What is the difference between a Hardware and a Software?

A Hardware is a physical device that you can touch and see like a monitor or mouse. Unlike hardware software's difference is that a software is a system that gives instruction to the computer telling it what to do.

What is a computer?

A computer device can input device, process information, and output device. It also stores memory and runs program. The first computer created was in 600 B.C.

My Expectation For Digital World

My expectation for digital world is to get about a 90 average every marking period. I expect Mrs.Ramirez to give out at least 3 projects. I expect to be really creative in the projects I receive. I expect to learn many things this term on digital world. I expect myself to be a great student and not miss any of my homework. Also finishing all my works on time/due date.
